The Veronica Bucket was invented early 1990s to encourage and facilitate good hand hygiene practices initially among laboratory personnel and later for Health Care Workers in general. It has now become a household name associated with general hand hygiene in the control and spread of communicable diseases beyond the health care setting.

The Veronica Bucket is currently in extensive use on the African continent in the fight against the global pandemic Corona Virus (COVID 19) or SARS-COV-2.
